Go to a backward area
or just pay heed to the streets on a red light and you'll see a lot
of beggars. This brings in a very sad and disturbing image of India's
poverty. While poverty is due to lack of money or resources, it is
not an isolated issue. You must have seen a lot of differently abled
people or people with cut or broken body parts, specially in the poor
areas. This shows that poverty and ailments are interlinked. A lot of
people suffer from diseases or have deformities due to accidents or
infection, and most of them are unable to get treatment, with a lot
of these people belonging to poor families. This is due to lack of
resources, infrastructure and technology in the poor areas. It is
also because of the expensive treatments provided in metropolitan
cities and the distance factor as well.
An orthopaedist, is an
orthopaedics surgeon who deals with diseases or
ailments concerning the muscular and skeleton system. There is an
acute shortage of orthopaedist in our country and a lot of people go
untreated due to this. Also, the equipments and technology that we
have is not 100 per cent efficient which makes most of the treatments
quite expensive. This can be resolved only if the information
technology sector and infrastructure of the country, along with the
