General Surgery-How to get there?

Sure, Life of a general surgeon is full of hardships and devoid of tranquility but there are some passionate souls out there who have utter and complete dedication towards this field and who what to make this as their dream career. Basically, there are four main steps that one has to follow to become a general surgeon: MBBS, internship, Entrance and MS (Medicine of Surgery).

In India, a general surgery aspirant has to undergo four and a half years of MBBS training, followed by one year long internship with usually open ups the medical students towards more practical side of medicine. India is known for its tough entrance examinations and the entrance for MS is no different. People have to make the choice of the specialty of their career based on the rank they managed to get.

Those who successfully made their way into general surgery get trained in certified hospitals as interns for three years to complete their MS degree. During these three years, students burn midnight oil to pass their viva and written exams along with the submission of thesis. It’s only after you receive a license that you become a true surgeon. There is no lack of opportunities for general surgeons. Big hospitals in Ghaziabad have well trained professionals in general surgery

Just a few things to keep in mind before you take Pediatrics

One of the main reasons why people take up Pediatrics is that it very satisfying and you also get to see your patients grow up! Pediatrics is a field that allows you to interact with the sick kids and explain diagnoses to their parents. It is amazing how Pediatrics have the ability to attract a very friendly, laid back type of people around them. It is usually the case that doctors who take up pediatrics genuinely love working with kids and are satisfied with their career choice.

The flexibility that this specialty provides is enough to make interns choose this as their profession. From part-time general Pediatrics to subspecialty fellowship to basic science research, this field provides opportunities for all types of careers. But, even though it looks so interesting (And it is!), Pediatrics is, sadly, not everyone's cup of tea. You are going to have to deal with a lot of high pitched wailing, crying, and disobedient patients. And that’s not even the most difficult task; the thing that will stress you out the most is the wide variety of parental personalities.

Both the pediatrician and parent want the best for the child, but the difference is, pediatricians understand that the child sometimes has to go through painful procedures to get well while the most parents find it difficult to digest, which is not a bad thing but is hampers the relationship between the two adults. That is why to get into pediatrics you need to develop Strategic word choice and good listening. You could take some tips from the excellent Paediatrician in Ghaziabad.Got natural curiosity, sensitivity, and a sense of humor? Pediatrics could be just the specialty for you. By -Vatsal

Radiation Therapy- Using one Fatal Substance to cure another

There have been countless stories of how scientists have sacrificed themselves for the greater good of mankind. All of these sacrifices are to be cherished and respected but if there is one such story which stands out from the lot, it is the story of the sacrifice of Madam Marie Curie. Credited with the invention of radioactive substances at a time when its advantages and disadvantages were not known, she succumbed to its effects but not before gifting mankind the cure for the most feared disease known, cancer.
Further research and study followed and what we got is the procedure without which the treatment of cancer would not have become possible. That procedure goes by the name of radiation therapy. We have all heard that saying about how only poison can neutralize poison. Never before this quotation has felt truer than in this case where one fatal substance is used to cure a person of another fatal disease.
Radiation therapy uses ionized radiation on the infected part of the body to damage the DNA of that particular part leading to cellular death. The allied professional who carries out this process is called a radiologist. Like every other medical procedure, it comes with its own set of side effects but when life is at stake, not many people care about side effects. Radiation therapy has made large strides in the field of medical science and one can expect that to continue with more research being done in this area. By - Vatsal

Cosmetic surgeon - Change your Face, But in the Right Way

We live in times when anyone who says that a particular thing is impossible is laughed at and ridiculed to no limit and rightly so. With the technical innovations coming of age, anything which seemed like a fantasy some time ago has become more and more of a reality. Just the thought that a person’s facial appearance could be altered on the basis of their liking would be scoffed at because no one thought that it was possible to change something that was god given. But all these assumptions have been proved wrong.

Don’t want to work hard to reduce weight? Get a liposuction. Not happy with the size of your breasts? Now you can increase or decrease it as per your liking. These are just two popular examples from what has become a vast branch offering endless possibilities and services. All these services come under the branch of medical science called cosmetic surgery.

Cosmetic surgery is the field of surgery which contains optional procedures to make one more attractive by going under the knife for reconstruction of a body part. A field for which people had the least hopes has gone on to become a mammoth in the field of medical science. This is owed to the fact that the urge for the society’s approval is strong in human’s nowadays that the number of people getting cosmetic surgeries has witnessed a huge growth. With this number expected to increase even more in coming times, this is a branch to watch out for in the near future.
One of the best doctor for cosmetic surgery is Dr. Manoj Kumar, you can book online appointmentwithhttps://www.medicosa.com/doctor/Dr-manoj-kumar-plastic-and-cosmetic-surgeon-dermatology. By - Vatsal

Virus: it's not that simple

What is the first thing that strikes your mind when you hear the word virus? The cranky, old professor from the movie 3 idiots? Or the virus you get on your computers and mobiles? Well, those have nothing to do with these powerful microorganism we're discussing here.Viruses are microscopic parasites which are as small as 20 nanometers which are capable of producing serious, life threatening conditions such as cancers, AIDS etc.

The study of these microscopic, parasitic particles, and their functions, and nature is known as virology. A person who studies the viruses that affect humans, animals, insects, bacteria, fungi and other natural environments is known as a Virolgist.A virologist may be a science graduate who has majored in virology or a medical graduate who has specialized in virology and epidemiology. Virologists usually are some of the best trained public health professionals. Scientists who train as virologists play a very pivotal role in the public health sector, including making sound health policies at all levels of the society. Most of the work for a virologist is serious laboratory research where he must figure out how to control the harmful effects of the virus and help the pharmacologist in formulating a suitable drug to kill it.

What's so exciting about a virologist? With the numerous life threatening viruses such as, HIV virus, Zika virus, Swine flu virus, there is an ever increasing demand for virologists to conduct studies and do research on these viruses to find a cure. As the modern day healthcare focuses more on prevention of the disease before it strikes, rather than dealing with the issue after people are unwell, this is where a virologist's role comes into play where he's required to study and work with other health professionals and help save the world from a potential viral outbreak. Serology can be specific at times

Serology in simple terms is the study of blood serum to find out the antibodies in the blood to fight against the disease. There are many laboratories in Ghaziabad which provides serologic tests to the patients. For more ease, one can download medicosa on their phone and they can easily find out the laboratories providing these tests so that time isn’t wasted and the right thing is achieved!

There are many diseases which are screened but there are possibilities that the results which are obtained might not be correct. For diseases such as tuberculosis or better known as T.B, serology testings are done but it is not worth it. Accurate results are not obtained. serology tests are also known as serodiagnostic tests. These tests basically check the presence of antibodies in the blood.

Hiv can easily be diagnosed via this test but incase of TB it is very difficult. It is not possible to diagnose TB like this! Testing for TB by detecting antibodies in the blood is extremely difficult, it is because many people can have antibody responses in their blood which will show that they have active TB even when they do not have any such diseases. Antibodies are not restricted to TB, they may also develop against other organisms that again could wrongly indicate that they have active TB in blood when it is not actually there. Results are extremely variable in these cases. It is all depended about low sensitivity which indicated false results!

Ophthalmology-Providing the gift of sight

Diseases related to the eye are some of the most common diseases in medical science. It is due to obvious reasons, firstly, it cannot be covered and secondly, it is so delicate that just a finger peck can seriously hamper the vision of a person for a lifetime. But just like any other disease or infection, medical science has an answer to this as well and the name of that answer is ophthalmology.

Ophthalmology is the branch of medical science that deals with the anatomy, treatment and cure for diseases and infections related to the human eye. An ophthalmologist caters to both general as well as surgical needs for the treatment of the disease. This makes this one of the most diverse and well respected branch in medical field.Being an ophthalmologist is a highly satisfying experience as there is a huge sense of gratification on being a sight restorer. After all, what can be better than giving the person one of the most cherished gifts, which is the gift of sight.

Combine that with less demanding working hours and lack of emergencies in this field and we almost get the perfect job that everyone so craves and desires.Although the present situation of this branch in India could be better, the future looks to be promising. Currently, India is looking unable to cope up with the demand for people in this field but that could soon change for the better due to concerted efforts by government and people alike. By - Vatsal

Study of Mind- Psychiatrists in ghaziabad

Of all the organs in the human body, each with their own reason for existence, brain is probably the most complex of all. There can be two people with brilliant minds in the same family, yet, one goes on to use it to good effect by serving his nation, while the other can join a terrorist group and give them the services. Now, what is it that causes such a drastic change in the life paths of two people from the same family? It is their psychology, or the way of thinking and perceiving things.

To have total control on your mind is the hallmark of a successful person. It can make a person do crazy things if not catered to properly. To bring the mind under control, relieve one from mental disorders like depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, a psychiatrist’s help is acquired. The process of diagnosis of these mental disorders is known as psychiatry

The job of a psychiatrist can be one of the most challenging jobs as the patients in this field are most likely non-cooperative. If a psychiatrist is not able to treat the patient properly, a nation can have a potential threat on its hands. It is often said that the job of a psychiatrist is much different than a physician as psychiatrist has to be familiar with both social and biological sciences.

An able psychiatrist can prove to be an asset for the nation in a way that he helps the people with mental disorders reach their full potential and lead a normal life. By -Vatsal

5 Reasons why EHR practice is not popular in India

Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a step forward in the improvement of healthcare system. It is a technology that saves the records of patient’s medical history, physical examination, prescriptions and treatment digitally. But, it is not being widely accepted in India due to the following reasons:

Doctors need to say: Yes Please!

The main reason why Electronic Health Records (EHR) system is not faring well in India is the reluctance of doctors to participate. They are not too enthusiastic about a system that, according to them, constitutes of time-consuming and burdensome writing of prescriptions on computers. In India, doctors see 40-60 patients per day and they have no time to put down the information on computer. But doctors are coming around slowly as big healthcare companies like MEDICOSA work on providing the best and most efficient EHR platforms.

Two ‘I’s for Incredible India and Two for Illiterate India :

A big hurdle in the path of success of EHR system is the illiteracy rate in India, especially when 70% of Indians live in rural areas. IT is hard to get them to understand the technicalities of EHR system when they don’t even have the basic education. Measures are being taken to connect with the people living in villages. If villagers can’t come to you, you go to them. This is exactly what the healthcare system MEDICOSA does; it bridges the gap between rural and urban.

No roots in Grassroots :

The metropolitan cities of India are equipped to welcome these technological changes but the problem lies with the grassroots levels. Government hospitals in small cities lack the resources required to make an initiative like EHR a success. There’s no money to invest on expensive interface, training of staff, migration of information etc.

Government of India, Step Up :

There is a sort of laid-back attitude in the hospital administration when the subject concerns EHR. This is because there is no legal requirement or pressure from government for the implementation of EHR system. Unlike US government, Indian government has not yet made EHR practice mandatory.

Scared of Change :

The new and fresh idea of digitizing medical records is intimidating to people, as people are used to, and they actually prefer the old method of storing data in files and folders. By – Muskan Gupta

Allergy is something which you can get over it, but you cannot get rid of it

The first thing which we usually get confused is allergologists treat people with diseases. Well no! allergology is the study of allergies and allergologist is the one who studies in depth about these diseases. So you might be wondering who treats these patients then. So allergist are the medical specialists who provide treatment to the people for such allergies! So I guess the basic difference between these 2 is certainly clear now!

So talking about Ghaziabad, they do have both…allergologists and allergists too! So someone who is looking out for them, just try medicosa for a better option on who is better because Medicosa chooses the best for you!!Pollens & Dust Particles are the most common cause of Respiratory Allergy. These agents get lodged into the airway (sometimes terminal bronchioles too).

This causes widespread release of histamine from mast cells which causes allergic symptoms such as Coughing, Sneezing and Running Nose. Also, various food items can cause widespread allergies, most common being Mushrooms, Soy, Peanuts and Gluten.

The disease which is caused due to gluten intolerance is Celiac disease. This is something which is very common and there is no solution for the same except for eliminating the gluten completely! Gluten free things is what the body demands! That’s why the gluten free products are gaining place in the market!

Well these things are to be taken care off…which means you need to be aware and stay away if something isn’t okay with your body. After all like you…even your body has some choices and preferences! By - Trishala

Make your life and then save others

Nothing can be better than seeing the youth of India taking a step forward in the field that aims at saving human lives. A career in Medical sciences often comes with a promise of bright future. Clinical Pathology is one of the career choices that people are leaning towards.

Growing fame of Clinical Pathology :
A six month certificate course in Clinical Pathology, sponsored by UGC in the year 2012 and offered by a college in Andhra Pradesh has become one of the most sought after courses because of the high employment rate. This shows the immense possibility of a bright future in Clinical Pathology. The demand was so huge that a proposal was submitted to UGC seeking the extension of the course for another five years.

Encouragement for women entrepreneurs :
Opening up a private laboratory has become a part of business now and women are willing to provide their inputs in the same. With right training skills, education and experience, women could take this sector to new heights. As usual, opposition from society will be there but if you have people who can push and support you, you will always be your best. There are many female clinical pathologists in Ghaziabad who could become a source of inspiration for others.

Flood of opportunities :
There is no shortage of opportunities in both scientific and business side of this field. People are recruited as doctors, pathologists as well as specialists.

Points to keep in mind :
When choosing a career of this nature one should keep certain things in mind. The skill gap is large and requires on job training of every employee. Because of the fault in India’s education system that focuses more on theory and less on practical skills, students often lack the practical exposure that is necessary for the work to be done. PACS-TECHNOLOGY THAT ‘PACKS’ EVERYTHING IN ITSELF

We take all the necessary and sometimes unnecessary measures to increase our life span. Of course, who doesn’t want to live as long as possible? Thankfully for us, in the present age of living, with all the new technology constantly evolving, life expectancy can increase in the coming years.
One such technology goes by the name of Picture archiving and communication system or PACS, as it is popularly known. Advantages of having data digitally instead of hard copy have been well documented by various experts over the past few years. After all, it is well known how careless the human mind can be when allowed to.
PACS healthcare system gives the people liberty to store all their image data which comes from various medical equipments digitally. What this does is facilitate quick and easy access to patient’s images and reports. You don’t have to go from doctor to doctor with an envelope in your hand containing all the relevant medical records and images. Now with PACS healthcare system, you can just go to the doctor and he can retrieve all of your medical data there and then from the online servers and give the consequent advice.
Gone are the days when there would be stacks of the size of novels containing medical records and upon us are the days where these stacks are replaced by folders in a computer and the strain on our minds from having to manage all the stacks is replaced by a smile on our faces as we move purposefully to a new era.  By - Vatsal
