Gain Back Your Lost Confidence, Gain Back Your Hair

Very commonly used technique in today’s era. Time is changing, problems are building up, new solutions are coming up, technology is blooming! Hair loss is common even in a 15-year-old girl. Why? Stress, peer pressure or unwanted/undesired/not acceptable hair treatments, girls these days’ love to experiment with their hair! Highlighting, rebounding, ironing, curling, tongs and what not! These girls are doing these stuffs without even a second thought about what effects do these things have! And later these girls cry of the spilt milk which is of no use! They start off with such hair transplants. Thanks to the technology!
Hair is also referred to as follicular units; this is a technical term which we don’t use in daily life but yes we should be aware! Nothing bad in gaining knowledge, ehh? Hairtransplant treatment is also known as follicular unit transplantation (FUT). The hair donor is usually harvested using strip harvesting or another method which is follicular unit extraction (FUE).
There are many diseases due to which there is hair loss and one such disease is folliculitis. This not only affects the hair but also affects the face which is usually filled with lot of pimples and usually puss oozes out. Folliculitis is an primary inflammation of the hair follicle which causes other issues. Folliculitis not only occurs on scalp but it can occur anywhere where there is hair growth. The treatment for this is done right here in Noida! In this disease, the affected follicular strands are removed and it is replaced with healthy follicular units using hair transplantation technique. Though the technique is costly but is definitely effective.

THE SURGERY SHENANIGANS

Neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, cataract removal surgery, plastic surgery, transplants, this surgery, that surgery…we’ve heard them all. While some surgeries are life saving procedures performed under great complications, some are unnecessarily prescribed to make money off of people and some, on the other hand, are willfully undertaken by people to take a few years off their face, pull up that sagging skin or just twirl a magic wand and change the features of their body that they like the least. The crux of the issue is that surgery has become a necessary evil. Going under the knife after a certain age is unpreventable due to a plethora of common ailments like knee replacement, hip replacement, uterus removal, heart issues and so on.

While some uber healthy people may be able to dodge the surgery bullet entirely, it is imperative for the rest of us mortals to take certain precautions before taking the leap. Step 1; make sure your doctor is trustworthy. No, REALLY make sure that he or she is suggesting surgery as the last resort. Then, get comfy with your laptop and research on how you can make this surgery easy for yourself and prepare yourself accordingly, for example research on what foods to eat or to avoid during that phase of fragility your body is going through and what activities not to indulge in so as to not strain your body. Also, pick a friend or family member and assign to them the task of helping you come out the other end of the tunnel with your chin up. Hand them the sole responsibility of taking care of you. And that’s it! You can do it. Will power and a little creativity with the way you handle the serious stuff is all it takes to survive it. Good luck! By - Sukanya

WORDS OF WISDOM BY PEDIATRICIANS

Recently, I've read a lot of interviews with pediatricians and have even conducted one. I got to know many interesting as well as bizarre things about the health care industry and child health care. I'm just compiling the all of them for a casual read.

All pediatricians say that pediatrics, as a field has grown rapidly in the past 50 years. Earlier, it was a lesser opted path for doctors and now it has become an individual subject with its own subsets and supersets. This also resulted in late realisation of infant and child health care which is why India has such high number of child deaths due to infections and diseases. Also, India has the highest number of births as well as deaths in the world, 25 per cent and 30 per cent respectively. There are a lot of imbalances in our country, like the wide gap between urban and rural areas, rich and poor, and the state to state/ culture to culture difference. The pediatricians feel that while vaccines have decreased the number of child infected cases, it had not helped a large proportion of the country due to its high cost before the government started subsidising them. Now, around 80 per cent children are covered by subsidised or sponsored vaccines. Pediatricians also believe that ignorance, religious and cultural belief are an important challenge in the face of child care industry.

A highly experienced and renowned pediatrician as well as adolscent endicronologist, Dr. IPS Kochar works as a senior consultant in Apollo Hospital, Sarita Vihar and Fortis Hospital, Noida. He has also been associated with prominent hospitals and institutions across the world like Great Ormond Street Hospital, which is one of the best tertiary referral child centers in the world. GENERAL SURGERY: IT’S A GRIND

When one decides to take that first step in the 1000 mile journey of becoming a doctor, they know they are going to get into a profession where the hours are grueling, the work challenging and the promise of little to no personal life.
What encourages these young guns to take up such a profession which sounds like nothing but a load of work? There are a number of answers to that question. For some, it is the money. For others, it is the prestige and the status of having “Doctor” prefixed to their name. And then there are those who pursue this profession purely because of the fact that it is dedicated to the service of others. To make someone else’s life a little bit easier by sharing your own bits of knowledge with them. I am writing this with a certain friend of mine in mind, who was one of those people that have life figured out since the age of five and have a clear picture of what they want to become. She proudly announced to the entire class, when we were in grade five, that she would become a pediatrician. And as we grew up, she worked and toiled towards achieving this goal.
What changed was only her choice of specialty. Instead of going for pediatrics, which would have been relatively easier because it is one field, with one target group, she delved into the myriad field of general surgery, which demands much more of a doctor than a single focus medical field ever would. General surgery focuses on all kinds of surgical treatments for different diseases, thus reaching out to a larger demographic. Maybe this was her reason for choosing to become a general surgeon, to aim for the greater good.
It is people like these who inspire us to put ourselves last, and strive to work for the better of our fellow humans. By - Sukanya
