Public Health - Defines the physical and mental well being of a population,

Public Health defines the physical and mental well being of a population, which may be of a particular society, area or city or state as a whole.
It is often hard to be safe from all the diseases prevailing these days. But, its not impossible. What do we do to keep our houses tidy? We simply make sure to clean our place by dusting as well as mopping everyday. The same principle is applied in maintaining overall health of a population.Due to increasing use of various substances, generation of garbage has been nearly increased by 3x. And let me tell you, almost 65% of total diseases are a result of poor management of the garbage.

We usually find garbage soiled up at some corners of some areas. These are the areas which hold 98% of mosquito and other insect population, which are the main carriers of most of the diseases.Garbage has been, and will be the most major source of infections.Household Garbage, which usually consists of paper bits, vegetable left overs etc, is generally harmless. However, when left in open, it may attract insects.

The garbage which is generated by hospitals, is managed by utmost care. The first process involves separation. There are certain colour coded bins and bags, which are used for disposal of selective items. These bags and bins are then disposed in specific areas, which are far away from human population, after being properly sterilized and disinfected. A healthy population can make all the difference n the working ability of a country. Various healthcare measures are taken by developed countries and sometimes these prove to be the difference between a developed and underdeveloped country. The main cause for the lack of healthcare services in under developed countries is the lack of information in this regard.
To reduce this gulf between the standard of Healthcare services in developed countries and developing countries, the science of public health came into existence. Although the idea for a system to promote healthcare has been around for years, the modern application of this science has been more effective than ever before. Combined with the contribution of science to this field, it has now become a crucial part of the healthcare system of every country.

The public health system consists of public volunteers as well as physician. The job of the public volunteers is to raise awareness regarding various diseases as well as promoting healthy was of living like washing of hands, delivery of vaccinations etc. The job of physicians in this field is the usual where they treat the disease of the patient. All in all, public health is a well oiled vehicle with volunteers, physicians and technology as its wagons which is leading the world to a brighter future. By- Vatsal Gupta
