ARE YOU HEALTHY ENOUGH?

If you have long work hours, loads of household chores, are socially very active and glued to your electronic gadgets, I'm assuming that you're compromising on your health while keeping up with the rapid pace of the expanding world. While it's important to earn your bread and butter, be updated about the rest of the world, stay in touch with your friends and relatives, it's equally important to live a healthy life.

We all perceive the term 'healthy' in different ways and the most acceptable definition of healthy would be a state of condition in which you're physically, mentally and emotionally stable. You're free of diseases, are fit and lead a safe and jolly life. This may sounds notional to some but living a healthy life is very much possible.

We must exercise or do some physical activity daily, follow a healthy diet, drink fluids and sleep well. We must also consult a doctor periodical and get regular health check-ups done. This ensures that we're completely free of all diseases. A doctor should also be consulted in case of any health related ambiguity.

Nowadays, thanks to the Internet, book online appointment with doctors has become damn easy. No emails, text messages or phone calls are required, just a single mouse click. Also, sites like MedicoSA which provide this option also enable the patient to view the doctor's profile, testimonies and reviews by other patients.

While technology keeps us on the go, it also ensures that our health is never compromised! By - Jessica

GENERAL MEDICINE : NEVER TOO LATE TO START CARING

We, as humans, ironically ignore the very miraculous vessel we live in – our body. It’s there for us ALL the time, tries to work despite being abused with foreign substances like fast food, soda, alcohol and tobacco and strives to perform all the basic functions necessary to keep us alive. But our inherent selfishness forces us to avoid thinking about the consequences of our actions by living in the moment, which is a good thing but may not necessarily be so in the long run.
So instead of being shocked at the “betrayal” of your body when you suddenly find yourself in bed, sick, we should start taking good care of it immediately. Apart from the clichéd suggestions of eating healthy and getting regular exercise, there is one solid suggestion that could not only help prevent further damage to your organs but might, just might help undo the damage already done. And that, people, is consulting a general physician, who is, as the name suggests, a doctor who practices general medicine and is the go to person to erase all your queries about being in perfect shape.
A general medicine practitioner is familiar with the workings of all parts and organs of the body and can even detect a problem in one part of the body by examining another. Which is why it is time to kick that know it all ego to the curb and seek help, because your life can be way better than it already is and you know it! By - Sukanya

DERMATOLOGY : JUST SKIN ?

Sunscreen, lotion, wipes : All are mandatory essentials found in the average Indian’s home these days to undo the damage that has been done to their skin by being out all day in the most severely polluted environment. It just doesn’t seem fair to subject the most visible organ on our body : the skin, to such harsh conditions. But we have no choice. As a result, there are side effects like rashes, pigmentation, black spots, sunburns, uneven tanning.
People also develop more serious conditions like skin cancer, warts, fungal infections, severe acne , cold sores, and the likes. It does make one shudder to think what our skin has been , and is going through every day. It is therefore extremely important to take good care of our skin and do so with the help of a well qualified doctor. A dermatologist is a doctor who deals with treatment of diseases of the skin, hair, nails . Dermatologists essentially give us a helping hand to undo the damage we have done to our skin or to diagnose the diseases that unfortunaltely land upon a huge section of the society. Even if we don’t have any ailments, it is always advisable to keep in touch with a dermatologist, because prevention IS better than cure after all.
At MEDICOSA appointments with dermatologists such as Dr TA Rana, an immensely qualified doctor who specializes in skin, cosmetic and laser surgery can be made.

It is better to take action now than regret being lazy later!
