Care of the Tooth.

Are chocolates, toffees, éclairs, your delicacies? Then, it is imperative that dentists will be on the top of the priority list of doctors that you will need to visit in your life-time. And even if you do abstain from these food items, there is no need to be ecstatic; because, dental problems have been found to be hereditary in nature.

A dental surgeon, more commonly, a dentist, is the physician whose specialisation lies in the field of dentistry- the study of the oral cavity in general and teeth, in particular. His field of expertise is the correct diagnosis, cure and prohibition of any diseases or disorders linked to the oral cavity and teeth. As early as the 20th century saw the advent of modernised dental technologies and methods in India and abroad. Fluoride toothpastes, crowns made of porcelain and cast fillings to name a few, were the ingenious wonders of the dental-medical world. Futuristic innovations are fats inviting in a brand new ultra-smooth super-fast dentistry; and these include the likes of air-driven dental gadgets, electric toothbrushes and other new smart techs on the block.

In Noida, a rapidly-blooming hub of futuristic innovations, by the means of the general, mandatory training, a licensed and registered dental surgeon is entitled to perform almost all dental treatments which are common, and some advanced ones too. This is pretty much the scenario in all over the world too. Cleansing, restorations with the aid of crowns and bridges, supports like braces, or endodontic therapies like RCT (Root Canal Treatment) all fall under this category. Oral surgery is not out of place for these physicians.

Dentists are playing life-saving roles nowadays, and with good reason. They are guarding one of the most important parts of our body- an act which takes their status to that of a saviour. By- Rounak Bose

Thoracic Surgeon- Surgical Removal of tumours over the thorax and chest wall

God has imparted us, a security chamber to protect the most vital organs of the body i.e. Heart and Lungs, called as the Thoracic/Rib Cage.
It is a bony structure which completely encloses these vital organs, protecting them from injuries, trauma and other agents.
Surgeries performed on the thorax, or on the vital organs enclosed by the thorax, are included in the head, ‘Thoracic Surgery
These include Procedures on:
1) Heart
2) Lungs, including Tracts
3) Oesophagus
4) Respiratory Muscles

As thorax forms a rigid covering over the heart and lungs, it has to be surgically displaced/ moved/ shifted.Various procedures, such as Surgical Administration of Prosthetic (Artificial) Valves, Open heart surgery, Surgical Removal of tumours over the thorax and chest wall. Many congenital conditions of the spine, directly or indirectly affect the thoracic spine, most significant being Scoliosis.

Also, pulmonary conditions have a role in this. Patients with COPD or Pleuritis have stiff lower ribs, which restrict mobility of the thorax & chest wall.Ribs, though being rigid and bony, can be classed as one of the most delicate bones in the body. Also, as the deep seated organs are life sustaining, care must be taken to ensure maximal safety during the procedure. Also, the medical practitioner should take care for the Post- Operative Management of the same. By- Rounak Bose

Eye Surgeon – the Doctors who maintain, improve or return our sight.

The eye is perhaps the most significant sense organ an individual possesses. Lose it, and you irreversibly enter a realm of eternal darkness. It almost takes out all the hope in you, leaving you frustrated; more so if you once had possessed this gift in the past. So, it is hardly surprising that futuristic advancements are made in the fields of eye-examinations and treatments, in India and abroad.
Ophthalmology is the branch of medicine that deals with the structure, internal structure and diseases of the human eye. A specialist in medical and surgical eye problems is called an ophthalmologist. Since they perform operations on eyes, they are both surgical and medical in nature of specialists. A large number of diseases and conditions can be inferred from the eye. India is playing a major role here, and is also one of the global leaders in this field. Noida, near the National capital, is fast culturing this field, developing state-of-the-art medicos and technologies. In Noida and in almost all other parts of India too, after completing MBBS degree, post graduate study in ophthalmology is required. The degrees are the Physician of Medicine, the Master of Surgery, and an optional Diploma in Ophthalmic medicine and surgery, and so on and so forth. The practice and work experience, prevalent today, is in the form of a junior residency at a medical college, eye hospital or institution under the supervision of experienced senior medicos.
Further work experience in the form of fellowship or senior resident, does refine the skill of these junior and budding Eye surgeons. These highly trained specialists are truly thus proving themselves to be indispensable. They can bring back the sight to the blind. They are the saviours of our eyes. They are the ophthalmologists. By- Rounak Bose

KEEP THE HEART’S SINE WAVE GOING!

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of cardiothoracic? If you’re a fitness freak, then you’ll probably think it is something to do with cardio/ cardiovascular exercise. This is pretty assumable because it contains the word cardio. In literal terms, cardiothoracic, a combination of two words is related to both the heart as well as the chest. Similarly, a cardiothoracic surgeon is a medical specialist who deals with problems of the heart and the lungs and performs the required surgeries.
For a person to operate on extremely important and sensitive organs of the body, it is important that he/ she is equipped with all the knowledge and technology used and is trained well or experienced. Highly experienced and know-it-all cardiothoracic doctors can be found on MEDICOSA, a networked health care ecosystem.
Recent trends have shown the increasing demand for a cardiothoracic surgeon. This is quite obvious because of the fast paced world in which we live, where people prioritize their work over health. The long working hours, whether manual or sitting in front of the laptop screens is bound to increase diseases among people. The most vulnerable lot is the young generation, bracketed between 18 to 35 years of age. The opening up of fast food joints and the increasing number of electronic gadgets have just aggregated this problem. Other unhealthy habits, like smoking, drinking, imbalanced diet are other reasons.

It is important that we look after ourselves and get regular checkups and tests done. In case of ambiguity, it is best to consult a doctor. Since our heart and lungs are very vital and delicate, we must ensure that we visit the right cardiothoracic surgeon. By - Jessica
