Drug Therapy

Narcotic Pain Analgesics are frequently prescribed to patients with renal colic.

For Severe cases, treatment regimen includes:

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL).

Surgical Removal Of Stones

Kidney failure (Renal Insufficiency, is a medical condition which the kidneys fail to adequately filter metabolic wastes from the blood. It may be Acute or Chronic.

Renal Dialysis is a life-support treatment in such conditions.

Peritoneal Dialysis

The human kidney performs many functions that help in general systemic maintenance of well being. This is primarily achieved by the main function of the kidney which is excretion. The main units of the kidney, called nephrons are the ones that primarily maintain and effect this aspect of the kidney. A tubule with a link to the blood vessels, the nephrons responsibly absorb and reabsorb substances from blood that have to be excreted. Kidney are a pair of organs present at the abdominal area of humans. The main and only function of the kidneys is to excrete waste from the blood in the body. The kidneys filter the waste from the blood present in the body through urine. The other functions are to maintain the blood pressure by maintain the levels of salt and minerals in the body. The help in maintain the balance of electrolytes that are present in the blood. The waste that is filtered by the kidneys is excreted as urine into the urethra is finally drained into urinary bladder.

Few treatments involved during a kidney failure are dialysis and kidney transplant. Dialysis is the process of removing the waste materials from the blood when the kidneys are unable to function properly and it is temporary. A kidney transplant is done to a person when there is a kidney failure.Kidneys are a pair of vital organs that plays a significant role in the survival of a human.
